Staple guns are essential tools for homeowners, but they can encounter common problems that hinder their performance. One problem we often encounter is staples not being driven to the correct depth, resulting in a ‘proud’ or partly driven staple.
Staple guns rebound when they fire. This makes them lift off the workpiece. While some staple guns have a depth adjustment, many do not. In this case lift the back of the staple gun when driving the staple. By lifting the staple run about a half inch about the workpiece, your staple will go in flush every time.
There are a number of simple tricks to using a staple gun that will result in a perfect result. Pierson’s Hardware Department carries multiple types of staple guns and will help you choose the right staple gun and staples for your project.
